Spice up your cookout with these Bacon Jalapeno Popper Hot Dogs! Cream cheese, cheddar, crispy bacon, and diced jalapenos create an irresistible topping for juicy hot dogs in toasted buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 All-beef hot dogs
  • 6 Hot dog buns
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 4 Jalapenos, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 tbsp Jalapeno juice (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: Mustard, ketchup, relish, chopped onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Jalapeno Popper Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, diced jalapenos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and jalapeno juice (if using). Mix well until fully combined. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Chill for 30 minutes for easier spreading (optional).
  2. Prepare the Hot Dogs: Choose your preferred cooking method: grill, boil, pan-fry, or microwave.
    • Grilling: Preheat grill to medium heat. Grill hot dogs for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and marked.
    • Boiling: Bring water to a boil, add hot dogs, reduce heat, and simmer for 5-7 minutes until heated through.
    • Pan-Frying: Heat skillet over medium heat with oil or butter. Cook hot dogs for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and browned.
    • Microwaving: Place hot dogs on a microwave-safe plate, cover with a paper towel, and microwave on high for 30-60 seconds until heated through.
  3. Assemble the Hot Dogs: Lightly toast the hot dog buns. Generously spread the jalapeno popper cream cheese mixture inside each bun. Place a cooked hot dog inside each bun, on top of the cream cheese mixture. Add optional toppings as desired.
  4. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For less heat, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos.
  • Use freshly cooked bacon for the best flavor.
  • Chilling the cream cheese mixture makes it easier to spread.
  • Scoring the hot dogs before cooking helps them cook evenly and prevents bursting.
  • Experiment with different cheeses, peppers, and toppings to customize your hot dogs.
  • Add a breadcrumb topping for a crispy texture.
  • Wrap the hot dogs in bacon before cooking for extra flavor.
  • Prepare the cream cheese mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
