Blackberry Cobbler Dessert: A Deliciously Easy Recipe to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Enjoy a warm and comforting Blackberry Cobbler, where sweet blackberries are nestled in a buttery, cake-like batter. This delightful dessert is perfect for any occasion and pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh blackberries (or thawed frozen blackberries)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the blackberries under cold water. If using frozen, ensure they are thawed and drained. In a large bowl, combine blackberries with 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss gently and let sit for 15-20 minutes to create a syrup.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Pour in milk and melted butter, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing; a few lumps are fine.
  3. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour the batter into the dish, spreading it evenly. Spoon the blackberry mixture over the batter, distributing it as evenly as possible.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. The edges should be bubbly, and blackberries should be bubbling through the batter.
  5. Let the cobbler cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. Scoop into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For longer storage, freeze the cooled cobbler wrapped tightly for up to 3 months.
  • Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and reheat at 350°F until warmed through.
  • Substitute blackberries with peaches, blueberries, or a mix of berries.
  • Adjust sugar based on fruit sweetness.
  • Add nutmeg or almond extract for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle oats/nuts for a crunchier topping.
