  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes (optional, for topping)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  4. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  5. Pour the hash brown mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. If desired, sprinkle crushed cornflakes evenly over the top of the hash brown mixture.
  7. Drizzle melted butter over the cornflakes.
  8. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.
