Enjoy a warm and creamy Matcha White Hot Cocoa, combining rich matcha and sweet white chocolate for a cozy treat. Perfect for chilly days or a delightful indulgence anytime!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder (ceremonial grade for best flavor)
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (or chopped white chocolate)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Extra matcha powder (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to break up any clumps.
  2. Heat about 2 tablespoons of water until just below boiling. Pour over the sifted matcha and whisk until fully dissolved and frothy. Set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once heated, add the white chocolate chips and stir until melted and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
  6. Pour the whisked matcha into the saucepan and stir until smooth and creamy.
  7. Taste the cocoa and adjust sweetness or matcha flavor as desired.
  8. Continue heating over medium-low heat until hot but not boiling. Remove from heat.
  9. Pre-warm your serving mugs by rinsing them with hot water.
  10. Pour the matcha white hot cocoa into mugs, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with extra matcha if desired.
  11. Enjoy your matcha white hot cocoa while warm.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha for the best flavor.
  • Increase heavy cream for a richer cocoa or substitute with more cream for a creamier texture.
  • Use almond, coconut, or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
