  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 package (15.35 oz) Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir occasionally and let it cool slightly after melting.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  10. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  11. Place Oreo cookies on top of the brownie batter in a single layer.
  12. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the Oreo layer and spread it gently.
  13. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out gently.
  14. Optionally, crumble a few more Oreo cookies on top.
  15. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. The edges should be set while the center remains slightly gooey.
  16. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes before cutting into squares.
