Notes

  • Fruit Filling Variations: Try apple, cherry, or blueberry pie filling.
  • Streusel Topping: Add a crumbly streusel topping made from flour, butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Cake Mix Alternatives: Use white cake mix or spice cake mix.
  • Almond Extract: Add a splash of almond extract to the batter for enhanced flavor.
  • Brown Butter: Use brown butter instead of melted butter for a richer flavor.
  • Fresh/Frozen Peaches: Substitute fresh or frozen peaches for pie filling, adding sugar and cornstarch to thicken.
  • Prevent Over-Browning: Tent the baking dish with aluminum foil during the last 10-15 minutes of baking.
  • Storage: Store leftover cobbler cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Dry Cake: Avoid overbaking, check oven temperature, add more milk.
    • Dense Cake: Avoid overmixing, ensure baking powder is fresh.
    • Uneven Cooking: Rotate baking dish halfway through.
    • Watery Peaches: Drain excess liquid from pie filling, add cornstarch.
