Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (2 sticks)
  • 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese. Make sure it’s at room temperature for easy mixing.
  2. Using a hand mixer or a whisk, beat the cream cheese until it’s smooth and creamy (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese, mixing well after each addition to avoid lumps.
  4. Once fully incorporated, add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Set aside.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, pour the can of strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom.
  7. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the strawberry pie filling and gently spread it out.
  8. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  9. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  10. Gently press down on the cake mix with a fork or spatula to help it absorb some of the butter.
  11. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  12. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  13. Serve warm or at room temperature. Top with whipped cream if desired.
  14. Garnish with fresh strawberries for an extra touch.
  15. Enjoy each slice with a dollop of whipped cream for a delightful treat.
  16. Cover any leftovers with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  17. Reheat slices in the microwave for 20-30 seconds before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the strawberry pie filling with other flavors like blueberry, cherry, or peach for a different twist.
  • For added richness, consider mixing in chocolate chips or nuts into the cake mix layer before baking.
