Strawberry Cheesecake Wonton Bites: A Delicious & Easy Dessert Recipe

Crispy wonton wrappers filled with creamy strawberry cheesecake. These easy, bite-sized treats are perfect for parties or a fun dessert!

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam (good quality, seedless preferred)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced fresh strawberries
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Turbinado sugar or granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Vegetable oil or canola oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and sour cream; mix until incorporated.
  4. Gently fold in strawberry jam, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in finely diced fresh strawberries.
  6. Cover and refrigerate the filling for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
  8. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  9. Brush the edges of the wonton wrapper with beaten egg.
  10. Fold in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing edges firmly to seal.
  11. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  12. Pour vegetable or canola oil into a deep skillet to a depth of 1-2 inches. Heat over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  13. Carefully place a few wontons into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  14. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  15. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  16. While still warm, sprinkle generously with turbinado or granulated sugar.
  17. Repeat with remaining wontons.
  18. In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice.
  19. Toss gently and let sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  20. Arrange fried wontons on a platter.
  21. Top with strawberry topping (if using).
  22. Serve immediately while warm and crispy.

Notes

  • Air Fryer Option: Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray wontons with cooking spray and air fry for 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Chocolate Drizzle: Drizzle melted chocolate over the wontons.
  • Different Jams: Experiment with raspberry, blueberry, or apricot jam.
  • Lemon Zest: Add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the filling.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble wontons up to 24 hours in advance and store in the refrigerator before frying.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
