Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 10 fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Strawberry slices and lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the fresh strawberries under cold water and hull them by removing the green leafy tops and white cores.
  2. Slice the strawberries into thin pieces and set them aside in a bowl.
  3. Rinse the mint leaves under cold water and pat them dry. Bruise 10 mint leaves in a separate bowl using the back of a spoon or a muddler to release their oils.
  4. Add the sliced strawberries to the bowl with the bruised mint leaves.
  5. Sprinkle sugar over the mixture to help macerate the strawberries.
  6. Gently mash the strawberries and mint together with a muddler or spoon, breaking them down slightly.
  7. Squeeze the juice of one lime into the mixture and stir until well combined.
  8. Fill a glass or mason jar halfway with ice cubes.
  9. Spoon the strawberry and mint mixture over the ice, including all the juices.
  10. Slowly pour club soda or sparkling water over the mixture, adjusting the amount based on your flavor preference.
  11. Give the drink a gentle stir to combine the ingredients without losing too much fizz.
  12. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, strawberry slices, and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
  13. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar to your taste; honey or agave syrup can be used as alternatives.
  • For a smoother texture, blend the strawberries into a puree before mixing.
  • To make a larger batch, multiply the ingredients and mix in a pitcher, adding soda just before serving.
  • Feel free to experiment with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries for a twist!
