Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of fresh watermelon, cubed and seeded
  • 1 ripe banana, peeled
  • 1 cup of Greek yogurt (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup of ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Select Your Watermelon: Choose a ripe watermelon that feels heavy for its size and has a smooth, blemish-free skin. Cut it in half, scoop out the flesh, and cut it into cubes.
  2. Prepare the Banana: Peel the banana and break it into chunks. For a colder smoothie, slice and freeze the banana for a couple of hours before using.
  3. Gather Other Ingredients: Measure out the Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and lime juice. Rinse and dry fresh mint leaves if using for garnish.
  4. Combine Ingredients in Blender: In a blender, add the watermelon cubes, banana chunks, Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup (if using), and lime juice.
  5. Add Ice: Toss in the ice cubes for a refreshing chill and thicker texture. Adjust the amount of ice or add a splash of water or coconut water for a thinner smoothie.
  6. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid and blend on high speed until smooth, about 30 seconds to a minute. If too thick, add more water or coconut water.
  7. Taste and Adjust: Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with more honey or maple syrup, or add more lime juice for extra zest.
  8. Prepare Your Glasses: Chill serving glasses in the freezer for a few minutes for an extra refreshing experience.
  9. Pour the Smoothie: Pour the smoothie into the prepared glasses using a ladle or directly from the blender.
  10. Garnish: Garnish with fresh mint leaves and optional slices of watermelon or banana on the rim of the glass.
  11. Enjoy Immediately: Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh, so grab a straw or spoon and dig in right away!

Notes

  • Customize your smoothie by adding other fruits like strawberries, blueberries, or mango. For a nutrient boost, add a handful of spinach or kale.
  • Add a scoop of protein powder or a tablespoon of nut butter for a more filling smoothie.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but note that the texture may change.
